The Thermal Springs of the Baths

Yesterday .........

The baths of Hypati have been known since the 4th century BC and were dedicated to the goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite.

At the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th, the Baths of Ypati were one of the most popular tourist destinations addressed to the elite of the time.

With the German occupation the hydrotherapist stopped its operation, the spa town was destroyed, and the once magnificent buildings were looted.

The hydrotherapy clinic was repaired and operated again until the end of the 1950s and early 1960s, when it was demolished and the present one built.

In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, tourism in the region grew rapidly, while in the 1990s it is still declining.

In Today .......

It is the only source of starch in Greece and one of the rarest in the world

Its waters are clear, have a hydrogen sulfide odor, a salty pungent taste, a temperature of 33.5 C and have a significant therapeutic effect on the human body.

They are suitable for the treatment of many diseases, especially the circulatory system, skin diseases, cardiac disorders, hypertension, rheumatoid arthropathies, etc.

There is an organized hydrotherapy center and with extensive green and recreational areas, it offers all the comforts to guests.
